I'm always a year or two behind everyone else when it comes to technology and clothing. I usually embrace something when it is going out of style. So, it shouldn't be a surprise that I got my first ipad when the third generation of ipads came out.

I don't blog. I probably should. Every one else does. And, I am a writer. However, I still haven't committed to blogging. So, when I have something to say, I usually post or tweet it.
Yesterday, a thought occurred to me: How do I explain Cloud Computing to people like myself, who find it a bit of an abstract concept?

The short answer, quite frankly, is "it depends." The long answer is that there are a variety of factors that must be considered when determining the cost differential between legacy/traditional IT systems and their Cloud based counterparts, but one of the most important factors is often overlooked.

Attempting to predict the future of technology can be tricky business for sure. Still, I believe there are some strong signs to support where I believe we are headed, and it appears that at least one major technology vendor agrees with me. Before I get too far ahead of myself, it might make sense to take a quick look back at where we have been and where we are today.
